Marvel vs Capcom 3 Gets Way More Furry
Posted by Lovejoy on 22 July 2010
During Comic-Con International 2010, Capcom has been announcing new characters for its upcoming fighting game, Marvel vs Capcom 3. So far the roster has been pretty standard, with one major exception: there's a big white wolf god on the list.

But it Was Better Than Alien vs Predator: Requiem, Right?
Posted by Duroc on 20 July 2010
Though Predators still felt like a “mixed bag” movie to me. It did some things right, a lot of things just okay, but thankfully, it never really went in the wrong direction at any point in time. And this is coming from a guy who was an Aliens and Predator fanatic when he was younger.

More Dragons and Hot Girls for Jay Baruchel
Posted by Lovejoy and Corvi on 17 July 2010
The Sorcerer's Apprentice stars Nicolas Cage, so it's going to be a crap shoot in terms of quality. Lovejoy and Corvi have two different takes on the Summer magic flick.

Twilight Saga isn’t Creepy-Awesome Yet, Still Just Dumb
Posted by Lovejoy on 15 July 2010
It's hard to believe that a movie about a teenage girl trying to bone half the cast of Universal Studios' Monsters could be pretentious, but I'll be damned if it doesn't try! From the first lines of Bella reading Robert Frost's “Fire and Ice” to the numerous statements on morality, Eclipse manages to be preachy about a subject that is not an issue for 100% of the universe: fucking vampires.

This is Somehow Worse Than The Happening
Posted by Corvi on 03 July 2010
The Last Airbender is a pointless movie. Who remakes a TV series into a film? Plenty of people have used film to extend the stories of cancelled shows. And other people use movies to adapt written word to a visual medium. But Avatar: The Last Airbender is already a visual medium, with a finished story that doesn't benefit from a white kid with leukemia and that Indian guy from The Daily Show.

Putting Away the Toys
Posted by Rikoshi and Lovejoy on 01 July 2010
Toy Story 3 tries to do something pretty brave: it attempts to age in real time, with as much time passing in-universe since the previous film as has passed in real life. Something similar was tried with the Harry Potter books, but while that mostly resulted in the books getting overlong and less well edited, with Toy Story 3, it actually succeeds.

These are the Fables
Posted by Lovejoy on 25 June 2010
One of the things I like about New Fables as a series is that the stories within are not strictly “furry”, nor are they explicit. Many of them touch on some very adult themes, but it's the kind of book you could give to a family member or friend to ease them into “that weird animal thing that you're into”. The Summer 2010 collection keeps up the tradition, and has the added bonus of featuring some of my all-time favorite stories ever printed in these books.

Movie Poster Reviews – We’re Too Old For This Shit
Posted by Lovejoy, Malin, Corvi and Jakebe on 24 June 2010
Look we're all adults here. And as much as we'd like to review every talking animal flick that comes along, the truth is that we don't have the time, or the alcohol budget, to make that feasible. What we do have time for is to glance at the posters lining the hallway of our local cinemas, and make judgments about the films from a quick glance. And that's exactly what we did.

The E3 Three-Way
Posted by Lovejoy, Duroc and Corvi on 21 June 2010
Lovejoy here, along with new writers Duroc and Corvi. We're chatting about E3 2010 and whether or not 3D and motion controlled gaming is cool or total bullshit. Here's a hint: if it forces you to dance, or buy $200 glasses, it's retarded.

As if Girls Weren’t Scary Enough Already
Posted by Tube and Jakebe on 12 June 2010
We're bringing back double reviews. And what better movie to splice up with two reviewers, than Vicenzo Natali's creepy, perverse film about genetic modification and hot French chicks with scorpion tails?

How Do You Make a Great Game Better? Add Yoshi.
Posted by Lovejoy on 03 June 2010
I don’t think I could use a hyperbole to describe Super Mario Galaxy 2 that hasn’t already been said. I won’t claim that it’s the Second Coming of Video Game Jesus or anything, but damn, this game is really really fun.

Norse Mythology Gets a lot Fuzzier with Gaiman
Posted by Malin on 01 June 2010
Few modern authors have the talent of blending the classical with the modern that Neil Gaiman does. In Odd and the Frost Giants, he melds that talent with the not inconsiderable feat of writing a good children's book. Finally, he adds that rare gift, writing a book with a fox in it*, to make a delightful little tale.
