It’s obvious that Seth MacFarlane is aware of the furry fandom, and he’s even gone so far as to have an episode of American Dad go to a furcon, but lately it seems like he’s revisiting the idea a lot. Like he’s making furry jokes more than black jokes, and he has an entire show that is one stupid black joke.

Every week there is at least one furry related joke in his shows. We’re not even exaggerating.

We know not everybody watches his shows, so check out this video we whipped up. These are clips from this season alone, and it’s not even everything.

Maybe it’s a coincidence (talking animals are funny, especially when they fuck), or maybe MacFarlane knows how to target his jokes. Either way, Sunday night has more animal sex than a zeta at an FFA meet.

persoanly i think hes aware but i dont think furs are exactly the target in his jokes. its likely just to add a different totch on things no one else messes with. seth likes to experiment with the random form of humor. and no one can argue with the results. personaly i think its harmless

Some pretty awful stuff in there.

I think he’s working on the same lines as a lot of fandom art, i.e., if the character’s not really human, or is a human in beast drag, normal rules about what’s decent or appropriate do not apply; you may transgress at will. You may plumb the depths of your twisted soul.

But I rather like the Cat Intelligence Agency, maybe because it’s the only non-violent/abusive/borderline racist one.

That, or Seth’s writing crew just ran out of jokes… and the only thing left to make fun of *is* furries.

I think I have to agree with Wapsie here, furry characters allow the writers to break some of the normal rules and highlight some of the craziest parts of our world.

like i said i dont think hes quite poking fun at anyone. its the same concept as white, black Hispanic, gay , lesbian jokes. so long as its universally distributed and non targeted theres no real hate or wrong behind it. unless that is you take such things truly to heart in which case you just need thicker skin or fur in this case.

Seriously, not once did I hear mention of ‘Furries’ or even the word ‘furry’ in that entire clip, all I saw where jokes about animals. I’m sure Seth knows about furries, but are these furries in his clip? No. Are they jokes directed at the furry life style? Not one bit. Even the guy in the monkey suit wasn’t a furry, he was a mascot at that fast food place.

I hate it when people see anthropomorphic or cartoon animals on tv and go “OMG FURRIES EVERYWHERE”. Are you aware at how little people in the real world know that furries even exist? Very few compared to those that don’t.
Just because some has anthro animals in it does not mean it’s furry or part of the furry of the fandom, how does that way of thinking even work? D:

People who are fans of cartoon or anthro animals = furry fans.
Furry fans = furries (much like star trek fans = trekkies).

I hate it when I see people try to redefine something that has been defined since the 80s or so. The reason people go “OMG FURRIES EVERYWHERE” is because they pretty much are.

If you still disagree, go to google and type in: what is a furry?
